The Official Charts Company has revealed the best-selling albums of the millennium so far, and we’ve got to say, there were a few surprises in there!

Perhaps rather unsurprisingly though, it was Adele who topped the list, as her album 21 charted sales of almost 4,740,000.

Next up was Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black followed by James Blunt’s album Back to Bedlam.

Two Irish acts also found their way into the top fifty, with Snow Patrol’s Eyes Open and Westlife’s Unbreakable: The Greatest Hits Volume 1 both charting in 23rd position and 49th position respectively.

Not surprisingly, Take That and Robbie Williams feature heavily throughout the list as too does Coldplay.

Classic music from the Beatles and ABBA also features.
