It was a beautiful day.

U2 fans packed into Dublin’s 3Arena on Monday night for the first of the band’s homecoming gigs in the capital.

It certainly was a triumphant return for the band, who treated fans to songs from their new album Songs of Innocence along with some of the classics.

“We’re four boys from the north side of Dublin,” Bono said. “It’s a family get together, it’s great to be home.”

“This is where it all started for us,” he continued. “All our relations from all over the world are here.

“We tried to explain where North Dublin was while we travelled the world the last nine months.

“We don’t need to do that now because we’re here.”

The gig marked U2’s first Dublin concert since they played Croke Park back in 2009 and according to the reaction on Twitter, it looks like it was one hell of a show.
