There is absolutely no argument that Noel Gallagher is one of the greatest interviewees of all time, with priceless quotes and anecdotes that never fail to amuse adoring fans.
This clip dating from 1996, unearthed by our brothers over at JOE.ie who claim to be the founders of the Noel Gallagher Appreciation Society, (but truth be known, we actually started it), shows a very young Noel making a solo appearance on The Late Late Show following a sell-out show at The Point Theatre, Dublin.
The ’96 gig saw Oasis perform with only one half of the famous family duo, after brother Liam was struck down with laryngitis (nothing to do with a night out in Temple Bar we’re assured) ahead of the concert.
Noel chats to Gay Byrne about fame, Irish heritage, the barman on Leeson Street that he bribed to enjoy a quiet drink for two hours and songwriting.

The clip opens with an acoustic rendition of Wonderwall and closes with Live Forever.
