“We Get Chills When We Hear Them” – Rumours… Confirmed! Fleetwood Mac Has New Music On The Way

Music to our ears.

It is the news we’ve all been waiting for, Fleetwood Mac are on the way back to the music scene with new material.

The rumours (see what we did there?!) were confirmed by band members, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie, and we couldn’t be any happier.

Buckingham announced that Christine, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood have almost completed eight new tracks after a two-month stint in a Los Angeles recording studio.

Stevie Nicks is the only original band member that wasn’t involved in the studio sessions as she was “busy with other commitments”, Buckingham revealed.

The group have been working in Studio D at the Village Recorder where they recorded their album ‘Tusk’ back in 1979.

The new songs have stemmed from older material as well as new ideas that Christine brought to the table when she reunited with the band in January after 16 years apart.

In an interview with Billboard magazine, Buckingham said: “We got in the studio not knowing what to expect, and the chemistry was just unbelievable. We got eight tracks very far along, like, 75 percent done. It just played out really organically in a way that seemed appropriate.”

Together again: The original band reunited in January this year.

Mc Vie told the magazine that the new material ranged from blues to commercial.

“There’s a wide variety, starting from sort of blues-based songs to very commercial songs. It’s very, very exciting. We get chills when we hear them. They sound really fresh,” she said.

Adding: “There’s an element, I guess, that hasn’t really existed so much in the past although it has been there in the fact Lindsey and I have been collaborating more.

“We’ve been working very closely together, so there is a freshness and obviously there are parts for Stevie to sing on all of these songs, which she will do eventually.”

Buckingham also said that the band has “about 14 or 15 things, and some other things we want to get to down the line” and laughed that he will be “pushing for a double album” after recent recording session. We sincerely hope he means it.

Fleetwood Mac has featured on our ‘Classic Album of the Week‘ list, if the new material is anything like, ‘Rumours’, we’ll not be complaining… or listening to anything else.

Just for old times sake…
