This is Sweepee Rambo, officially the world's ugliest dog
Most dog owners think their pooch is the most adorable one in the world.
And then there are the owners who are most proud of their dog's pug-ugly features.
Welcome to the 2016 World's Ugliest Dog contest, held at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California. Some 16 pulchritude-challenged hounds took part in the contest, and they made for quite the line-up.
This is the reigning 2015 champ, Quasi Modo.
The stars of this year's contest included the wonderfully-named Icky.
This is Scamp.
Other competitors included Rascal Deux...
...and Josie.
But the outright winner of the contest was owner Jason Wurtz with his dog Sweepee Rambo, a blind female Chinese Crested dog.
Sweepee is 17 years old, blind in both eyes and weighs just four pounds.
"I've had girlfriends over the years and they were jealous of her and like I told them, she was here when you came and she'll be here when you leave, that's the best friend I have," Jason said in an interview with 'Today'.
According to the 'New York Times', three judges decide the winners, based on the dogs’ personalities, appearances and how the audience reacted. A strict rule of the show is that no “animal must not have been intentionally altered to enhance appearance for the purpose of this contest.”
The prize was $1,500 and a six-foot trophy.
Here are some more of the competitors, because let's face it, all dogs are wonderful, even the "ugly ones".
Work it Himisaboo!
How you doin' Grovie?
Lookin' good Precious!
But let's all bow (wow) down one more time to Sweepee!
