Revenge Porn Kingpin Receives Hefty Jail Sentence

Ellen Tannam

The man behind one of the most notorious revenge porn sites IsAnyoneUp.com, has been sentenced to over two years in prison in California, according to MyNewsLA.

Hunter Moore was known as ‘the most hated man on the internet’, for creating a site where users uploaded nude and explicit photos of their exes (mostly women). The subjects of the photographs were often identified online, which would potentially devastating for those involved.

Moore was sentenced to 2 and half years in Federal Prison by Judge Dolly Gee and also owes a $2,000 fine.

The judge added: ‘He hid behind his online persona and engaged in aberrant behavior. Now you must face the consequences of your own actions. Your poor judgment has caused much pain to your victims and your family.’

This sentencing comes as a wide crackdown on revenge porn is beginning to take effect, with new laws coming into place in North Carolina in November and the UK criminalising it in September with a two year sentence applicable if an individual is convicted.
