We’re learning the truth about one of our favourite Pixar movies ever.

Over the course of the Toy Story films, we’ve laughed, we’ve most certainly cried and we’ve tried desperately to catch our own childhood toys out in the act.

Yes, it is certainly a movie that holds a dear place in many of our hearts.

However, there were always questions – especially when it came to Andy’s dad. With no sign of him in any of the films, people have been speculating for years as to where he could be.

Well, story consultant on the film, Mike Mozart, may have given us the answer in a YouTube livestream event. Mozart broke the news that Andy’s dad passed away years ago during a lengthy live chat with followers online. He also revealed that Andy got his name from his father.

The story consultant says that Andy Sr. contracted polio when he was a child which meant he had to destroy all of his toys except a few – Woody, Slinky and Mr Potato Head.

Passing these on to his son, Andy Sr. was later struck with post-polio syndrome and died.

While many movie analysts have been using this information to fill other plot holes, one person has come out to shut down the claims.

One of the film’s original writers, Andrew Stanton, took to Twitter to put an end to the rumours, calling them ‘fake news’.

“Complete and utter fake news. Everyone go back to your homes. Nothing to see here, folks.”

Well, we guess we’ll never know.
