Conor McGregor has announced his retirement from MMA.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion announced the news on Twitter this morning, stating that he was going to “join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.”

McGregor had previously said he was retiring in 2016, but later returned to MMA.

This morning on Twitter, he wrote:

“Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today.

“I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement.

“Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!”

It remains to be seen whether the 30-year-old will return to the sport in the near future, however much of the responses to his announcement today seem to suggest that he might.
