What a brilliant achievement…

Ireland’s fairytale World Cup will continue for at least another game after they beat India in a thrilling penalty shootout in their Women’s Hockey World Cup quarter-final.

After 60 breathless, scoreless minutes in London, Chloe Watkins stepped up and maintained her composure to score the decisive penalty and secure a place in Saturday’s semi-finals against Spain.

Ireland were ranked 16th in world prior to the tournament but will take their place in the final four in what is a magnificent achievement for this team.

Ireland booked their place in the knockout stages as winners of Pool B following wins over America and India.
