Getting into golf? Here’s what you should be wearing…

When you’re trying your hand at any new sport, one of the first hurdles can be figuring out what exactly you’re supposed wear.

Comfort and convenience are key but if you’re not a position to go out and buy a load of new gear, you’re probably not alone.

When it comes to golf, the good news is you likely have a lot of the clothes you need already in your wardrobe, making it a super accessible and easy sport for any beginner to try out.

With that in mind, here’s everything you need to get started…

Beginners’ basics

When you’re first starting out, don’t feel the need to purchase loads of new or pricy items. The exercise gear you already have and wear, like runners, leggings and a decent raincoat, are usually enough to see your through your initial lessons and first trips out onto the green.

Some comfy and casual sportswear like these should be enough to get you started…

Lotus Rib Knit Legging in Rosewood – €70

Under Armour Womens Half Zip Twist Top – €45

Weather appropriate wear

One of the most important things to consider when dressing for golf is the weather. Dressing for rainy conditions is a must when it comes to golfing in Ireland but, as we approach the summer and the weather finally starts to improve, you may also want to consider dressing in easily removed layers for hotter days.

You’ve likely got a lot of these essentials in your wardrobe already, but we’ve also included some handy all-weather options below. A lot of these can be seen as investment pieces, as you’re sure to get some use out of them off the court too.

Ladies Liberty 3.0 Waterproof Jacket Raspberry Sorbet – €139.95

Ladies Isla Printed Leather Trim Glove Diamonds – €19.95

Inge Fleece Lined Hat Ladies Rouge – €19.95

Helpful additions

While your usual active wear is fine when you’re first getting started, you might want to expand your wardrobe a little if you plan on making golf a regular part of your routine.

One of the best essentials you can invest in is a pair of high-quality golf shoes. While playing in a pair of runners is fine, golf shoes have some extra benefits like wide-track soles and tongs that help prevent slipping on the grass, extra sturdiness and breathability and the fact that they’re specially designed for comfort while you play.

Check out some particularly sleek options below…

Ladies E-Comfort Shoes White – Grey – €99.00

Adidas Ladies Adipower 4orged Golf Shoes Core Black – €59.40
