10 small celebrity tattoos to give you serious inking inspiration
Looking for some inspiration?
One of the newest tattoo trends is all about dainty and delicate designs - and while they may be small in size, they definitely have a big impact in style.
Whether you're looking to mark a certain meaning or are simply looking for a fun design, the teeny-tiny works of art prove that size ultimately doesn't matter when it comes to ink.
From showing our love for our favourite film to sealing a friendship with a permanent inking, we're huge fans of the dainty design trend - and so are celebrities.
So whether you're looking for inspiration for your first inking or your fifth (or anything in between), check out these ten dainty designs from celebs.
1. Pretty Little Liars cast
The stars of Pretty Little Liars decided they wanted to do something special - and permanent - to commemorate their time on the series.
Each one of them got the first initial of their character’s name inked on the inside of their ‘shhh’ finger, from the opening credits of the show.
2. Bella Hadid
Bella Hadid returned to the same designer who inked a pair of delicate wings on her ankle this summer, where she got an even daintier design.
The model debuted the rose on the back of her arm in August, and it’s giving us some major inking ideas.
3. Ariel Winter
Modern Family’s Ariel Winter showed off her “most special tattoo” on Instagram last year, and it’s particularly sweet.
The actress got inked with the initials of her “five of the most important beings in her life” as a sweet tribute to her nieces and nephews.
My second and most special tattoo, the initials of five of the most important beings in my life: my nieces and nephew. Their initials are on my ribcage, on the side where my heart is. They are my inspiration, and my reason for living. Love these babies more than anything and proud to have their initials forever on my body. 4. Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff is one of our go-to celebs when it comes to inking inspiration.
The actress has a number of simple-yet-stunning tattoos, including this red heart on the outside of her wrist.
5. Ed Westick & Jessica Serfaty
Ed Westwick and his new girlfriend Jessica Serfaty took a big step in their relationship this year - by getting matching tattoos.
Jessica shared a look at their matching ink earlier this year in an Instagram post to celebrate the Gossip Girl star’s 30th birthday.
6. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato’s no stranger to tattoos - but we’re a particularly big fans of her blink-and-you-miss-it pinky ink.
The singer debuted a smiley face design on her digit last summer, adding:
“Cause life's too short not to tattoo your pinky.”
7. Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland shared her newest optimistic inking along her ribcage last month - and it turns out it had a very special meaning for her.
The Modern Family star captioned a photo of the minimalistic design:
“’The best way out is always through’- Robert Frost. Symbolism by @_dr_woo_ for one of my favorite quotes.”
8. Zayn Malik
Zayn Malik paid tribute to a galaxy far, far away with his Star Wars tribute tattoo.
And while the former One Direction star got his lightsaber with UV ink, the same effect can be achieved with regular kinds of ink if you fancy an always-lit lightsaber.
9. Sophie Turner & Maisie Williams
Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams proved the Stark sisters’ bond is real when they sealed their friendship with a permanent ink on their arm.
The pair got the date 07.08.09 on the insides of their arms, the date they both found out they were cast in Game of Thrones.
10. Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande’s inking on the back of her neck is giving us serious inspiration.
She got the French term of endearment “mille tendresse”, meaning “a thousand tendernesses”, in the hidden spot.
And the beautiful phrase has a hidden meaning, too - it’s a quote from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which she previously said was her “all time fav”.
