Five gorgeous ethical clothes brands that you can actually afford to shop
Is your shopping ever a source of shame? I know mine is.
I love clothes, and buying new ones on a semi-regular basis is an indulgence I’ve slipped comfortably into since becoming a grown up with a full-time job of my own.
It’s a habit I’ve been trying to curb though, having learned this year just how bad fast fashion is for the planet and many of the people on it.
I won’t lecture you – we all know that buying clothes very cheaply comes at a huge cost to the environment and keeps many millions of people, often women, in unsafe, poorly-paid work.
Lots of the big mainstream clothing brands are making steps to be better but there are also some gorgeous ones out there that get top marks when it comes to being ethical.
Rather than give up buying clothes, right now I’m trying to give up buying bad clothes.
I was always under the impression that buying sustainable means spending more but have done some digging and that's not actually the case.
Here are some beautiful ethical brands that won't cost an arm and a leg to get bits from.

During May, Her will be doing some more #ConsciousBits.
Over the month, we'll be learning how to re-use more than we buy, examining the sheer amount of waste the planet produces, and considering the many, many benefits of sustainable fashion choices.
We'll also be chatting to some people who have made sustainability a priority, while setting ourselves a few environmentally conscious challenges along the way.
Change is daunting and we're not perfect, but we can always try to do our bit. Our conscious bit.
