It has been absolutely baltic out there today.

So, the idea of staying indoors and watching a good movie is seriously tempting – and thankfully, Channel 4 have come to the rescue.

The station are playing The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 tonight, the second-to-last movie in The Hunger Games franchise.

In case you need a refresher as to what the film is about, Mockingjay – Part 1 picks up in the aftermath of Catching Fire, which ends with the rebels breaking the contestants of the 75th Hunger Games – and the third Quarter Quell – out of the arena.

Catching Fire ends with Gale telling Katniss President Snow had found out about the rebels’ plot, and that while her family and some other people had escaped, District 12 has been destroyed.

Now, Katniss Everdeen is in District 13 after she shatters the games forever.

Under the leadership of President Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.

Mockingjay – Part 1 begins at 11.50pm on Channel 4. You can check out the trailer for the movie below.

The news comes a few months after a prequel to The Hunger Games series was announced. You can find out more about that there.
