She’s one of our favourite actresses but Melissa McCarthy has revealed that every fashion designer she approached to dress her for the 2012 Oscars refused due to her size.
The Bridesmaids actress told Redbook magazine that while couture designers usually scramble to dress celebrities for glamourous red carpet events, she could not find someone to dress her for the Oscars and was rejected by each designer she approached.
“Two Oscars ago, I couldn’t find anybody to do a dress for me. I asked five or six designers, very high-level ones who make lots of dresses for people, and they all said no.”
The star has since launched her own plus-size clothing range, as she was left disappointed “most of the time” she went shopping.
