The concept of ‘one-size-fits-all’ is a little baffling, so much so that when we discovered jeans that claim they work for everyone, we just had to find out.
As you’ll see here, they were a source of great interest at Her HQ and the same goes for underwear that operates on the same premise.
I dropped into Brown Thomas recently and chatted with lingerie buyer Roslyn Ellis to talk about what’s new at the department store this season…let’s just say I left with a long wishlist.
However, despite lusting after La Perla and the likes, it’s the Chantelle Soft Stretch Waist Briefs (€16), pictured below, that are the most useful.
The seam free-briefs come highly recommended by Rosyln because they’re completely ‘invisible’ under any outfit.
An expert in her field, she said that when they first arrived at the department store, people couldn’t get over the fact that they’re designed to fit all sizes and so, everyone wanted to try them.
Rosyln admits she too was sceptical initially but after seeing them in action, she’s now a convert and says they work under every outfit which isn’t bad for the €16 price tag.
The second skin effect lightweight fabric briefs are high-waisted and the best bit is the promise of “complete invisibility under clothing”.
When it comes to underwear, it’s tempting to buy pretty pieces that look good on Instagram but having functional items shouldn’t be underestimated.
Although flesh-coloured undies mightn’t be the most aesthetically attractive, you’ll find yourself reaching for them because they make your favourite dress look even better.
Although you might not think that you need help when choosing underwear, (I too was of the same school of thought), it can actually make all the difference to that outfit you’ve been saving for a special occasion.
