Let it snow!

Yep, Christmas fever is taking over ladies and it means we’re dreaming of a cosy break away to coincide with our Yuletide festivities.

Whether it’s a charming little village, a magical Christmas market or a snowy city that tickles your winter fancy, here are some of the best options and all just a few short hours from home.

Oh, and in true Christmas spirit, we’ve a simple hack below, showing you how to collect Avios to put towards your next break abroad, thanks to AerClub. (Hurrah!)

1. Geneva, Switzerland

All the snow you could ever want — it’s the place to be if you’re dreaming of a white Christmas. Treat yourself to a spot of shopping at the Christmas markets, warm up the toes at a cosy café of your choosing (look for the adorable Cottage Café), and munch on SO MUCH yummy food. If you really want some Christmas fun in Geneva, get yourself to the La Capite slopes for some tobogganing. Nothing beats it!

2. Rome, Italy

Rome is perfect all year round, but at Christmas, you’ll see it like never before. The weather is mild (great for a winter warm up), there are several Christmas markets (our favourite being the one on Piazza Navonna — it has little merry-go-round) and well, we love a good hearty Italian meal too.

3. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam is beautiful any time of year — this much we know. But it’s truly spectacular coming up to Christmas. They love it so much, Christmas celebrations and festivities start the month before hand in November. Get to the Amsterdam Light Festival, bring someone special to go ice-skating with and simply follow the canals to see lots of charming gabled facades. Try spot the narrowest house in the world while there too.

4. Berlin, Germany

German Christmas markets are world famous and for good reason. The oldest and most famous market in Berlin is the Rotes Rathaus market. Expect oodles of foods, sweet and savoury bakes, arts and crafts, and a giant ferris wheel lit up with Christmas lights. Ice-skating is super popular in Berlin, with several rinks around the city, so do give it a whirl.

5. Prague, Czech Republic

When the snow falls here, you might as well be in a Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale. It’s enchanting to say the least. The stunning city boasts medieval churches, Christmas markets and a real good cinnamon roll! Plus, it’s easy on the wallet too.
