This Cork beach has been named as the best in Ireland by TripAdvisor

It is glorious, to be fair.

Anna O'Rourke

We may not always get the best weather but we are certainly blessed when it comes to scenery.

Maybe it’s the glorious sea air, the smell of the salt water or the dramatic sight of tumbling waves but even on a wet day, there’s something kind of magical about an Irish beach.

The users of TripAdvisor clearly agree and have chosen their very favourite stretch of sand in Ireland.

Inchydoney Beach in West Cork has been voted the top one in the country.

It has a 4.5 star rating on the online travel forum, with users describing it as “breathtaking” and “stunning”.

While a Cork beach was named the best in Ireland, six strands in the neighbouring county of Kerry managed to make the top ten, including Banna, Derrynane and Rossbeigh.

Here’s the list in full:

  1. Inchdoney Beach, Co Cork
  2. Banna Strand, Co Kerry
  3. Inch Beach, Co Kerry
  4. Strandhill Beach, Co Sligo
