Staycation: 5 couples packages to spice up your September

Jade Hayden

Happy September.

It’s not summer anymore. No worries. That’s grand. We’ve accepted it.

That only gives us more of an excuse to book a nice hotel for a few nights. Head off for a few nights, clear the head, eat the food.

We’ve already compiled a series of lists concerning top staycation spots across the country. From glamping to camping to staying in actual bedrooms, Ireland’s a fairly decent shout when it comes to getaways.

And thank god too because we can’t exactly go anywhere else right now.

So, without further ado, here’s one for the couples among us – a comprehensive list (5) of hotels currently offering romantic, sultry staycation deals for you and your significant other.

Enjoy yourself, yeah?

1. Lough Eske Castle, Co Donegal

A boujie one to start off with but hey, if you can’t treat yourself then nobody else will.

The gorgeous 5 star Lough Eske Castle recently launched their ‘Gourmet Getaway’ package – ideal for any couple who adores staying in lovely hotels and eating divine foods.

Recently awarded 2 AA Rosettes, one of Europe’s most respected hospitality industry awards, this hotel is where you want to be if you’re into your food, your glamour, and you’ve got a fair amount of cash to dish out on your couples staycation.

Prices start at €499 euro per person sharing for a two nights B&B, a three course dinner, and afternoon tea.

Worth it though… right?

2. Hotel Doolin, Co Clare

If you hate the word ‘staycation’, you are going despise the word ‘playcation.’

But c’mon, it’s fun, it’s quirky, it’s something you should absolutely do as a couple over the coming months. Spice things up, do a playcation. You deserve it.

And lucky for you, the guys over at Hotel Doolin have got a special ‘Couples Playcation’ package, involving three night’s accommodation, two evening meals, breakfast each morning and a full itinerary of adventures such as yoga, cliff diving and a private guided walk.

For the more chill among us, you can opt for a ‘Spaced Out Session’ package involving a distanced yet intimate performance in the hotel’s eco-barn, or go for the delicious ‘Doolin on a Plate’ package involving a la carte breakfast and a four course meal.

Prices start at €550 for the couples playcation package, while space out sessions starts at €150 and Doolin on a plate starts at €310.

3. The Continental, Co Galway

A boutique hotel in Salt Hill, a selection of cosy rooms for a decent price (just over €100 a night, depending on when you’re booking), an entirely Instagrammable hotel foyer.

There are few things more divine than a brisk stroll by the sea while the sun shines (hopefully), and a night in a boutique room a mere five minutes walk away can only make the stay that ever bit more relaxing.

A cheap and cheerful taste of luxury. Enjoy it, yeah?

4. Clontarf Castle Hotel, Co Dublin

A night away from the city without actually being that far out of it, Clontarf Castle is the ideal couples staycations for any Dubs in the market for an extremely fairly price stay in a glorious hotel.

Prices for the castle’s ‘Romantic Rendezvous’ start at €229 , so you needn’t worry about breaking the bank while enjoying yourself a romantic night out.

This package includes one night B&B, dinner, and champagne on arrival – not a bad shout, if you’ve got someone to share it with.

5. Corick House, Co Tyrone

Set among winding country roads of Co Tyrone, Corick House offers guests a traditional stay with good food and lavish surroundings.

Ideal for those eager to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, grab your significant other and check out some breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains.

A very reasonable stay with packages starting from £135 (€151) for one-night B&B in a deluxe room.

On your best behaviour, yeah?
