3 reasons why Milan is the next destination for your girls trip

Olivia Hayes

Get packing.

If you want to jet off with the girls for a getaway soon then Milan is the perfect place for it.

The city is one of my favourite in the world and after going for a little three-day trip last year, I would highly recommend it.

While being boujee AF, it’s also a pretty special place come with random pop up museums, Insta-worthy restaurant and plenty of sightseeing.

So, to get you on your way, I’ve jotted down my five reasons for visiting Milan this year.

1. The restaurants

Are you a foodie? More importantly, are you an Italian foodie? If so, you will adore the restaurants in Milan. From the quaint, tiny pizzeria on the corner to the grand Maio restaurant which overlooks the Duomo Cathedral, you will not be stuck for choice. Oh, and there’s also a champagne bar in Maio which you have to check out.

Maio restaurant is located in the Piazza del Duomo, which is reachable on the Milan Metro line. If you want something a bit more out of the way though, Ristorante Pane e Tulipani is the place to go. It’s located in the Via Giulio Tarra and you can get there by tram or bus.

2. The shopping

Oh boy, the shopping. If you fancy treating yourself while in Milan, then you won’t be disappointed by what the city has to offer. I went into the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and was absolutely blown away. If you have a bit of extra bob to spend, this is the place for you.

Otherwise, DMAG is a designer outlet where you can find some unreal bargains, so I’d suggest you make a stop by there too.

3. The culture

Something I absolutely adored about Milan was the culture – the museums and exhibitions I stumbled upon while over there were amazing. From the Ambrosiana Gallery to the Brera Art Gallery, there was something different in every single one.

Meanwhile, something not as historic, but just as impressive can be seen at the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti. Curated by Giuliamaria and Gianmatteo Dotto, a city of LEGO can be viewed. Made up of seven million Lego bricks, it’s a sight to be seen, with kids and adults alike being blown away by it. And with the Aer Lingus winter sales having kicked off, you’ll be there in no time!
