Dreaming of curling up in front of a huge, roaring log fire this Christmas?

At a castle? In the most gorgeous, magical surroundings? Yep, us too.

This festive season, Dromoland Castle in Co. Clare, on the shores of Lough Dromoland, will put on some seriously swoon-worthy events, and it sounds like the perfect way to kick-start Christmas, if you ask us.

On Friday, 7th, Saturday, 8th, Friday, 14th, Saturday, 15th, Friday, 21st and Saturday, 22nd of December you can enjoy a special ‘Carols by Candlelights’ service, where you get to enjoy a festive five course dinner in the Earl of Thomond dining room while experiencing a live performance of traditional festive carols performed by Trilogy, featuring Kate Purcell, by candlelight. (€85 per person).

Or how about treating your mum to an afternoon tea fit for queens, complete with crackling open fires, luxurious surrounds, deep sofas, twinkling lights and countless thoughtful touches.

The fine three-tiered selection with a festive twist includes mulled wine, a variety of delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones with home-made jams and clotted cream, festive pastries, warm mince pies, chocolate roulade and delicious seasonal treats. There is also a wide selection of teas and coffees to choose from, including Dromoland’s own blend tea.

Festive Afternoon Tea at Dromoland Castle is available from 1st December until 2nd January, subject to availability, for €47.50 per person.
