This Limerick hotel’s spa is next level when it comes to relaxation

Gals weekend anyone?

The past year has well and truly been the year of staycation, and for many in Ireland this time has given us a chance to discover and rediscover getaway destinations that are right on our doorstep.

Limerick, for instance, is becoming increasingly popular for cheeky weekend breaks, and we can see why. This city is easily connected by rail and bus to the rest of the country, it’s a pleasure to stroll through and there’s no shortage of things to see or places to dine at.

On top of that, if you’re keen to soak, unwind and relax during your stay, then one particular hotel has you sorted.

Conveniently sitting on the banks of the River Shannon in the city centre, the Limerick Strand Hotel is ideal for a chilled out weekend break.

Hotel guests can slink their way down to the hotel’s Energize Leisure Spa in their dressing gowns where four stunning pools await them.

The spa is kitted out with a 20 metre swimming pool, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a steam room, a kiddies’ pool, a hydrotherapy pool, and, if you’re feeling particularly brave, a plunge pool.

Once you’re adequately chilled out, delicious eats are there for the taking in the hotel’s restuarant and bars. All food served is fresh, seasonal and traceable, and management prides themselves on sourcing local produce.

Best of all, in lieu of the breakfast buffet of times gone by, the culinary team safety plate up a wide range of foods in the morning – from Nutella pancakes to a full Irish with all the trimmings, they have you sorted, especially if you let loose at the bar the night before.

If you’re eager to explore the city of Limerick, you’re well situated. The Hunt Museum and King John’s Castle are just across the road, as is the buzzy high streets of the city centre.

Limerick, you really are a lady.
