Lonely Planet says this is the ONE city you need to visit in 2019

Trine Jensen-Burke

If you haven’t been yet, 2019 is the year you should make this city a priority.

We are talking about Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, which, in all honesty, is one of my all-time-favourite cities. And not just because I am biased, being a Scandi myself.

No, this gorgeous city, which Lonely Planet recently hailed as the one city to visit in 2019, really is a must-see, especially if you are into things like design, architecture, shopping and food, which, let’s face it, we totally are.

With its modern design, 15 Michelin-starred restaurants and extremely bike-friendly culture, it’s no surprise that Denmark’s capital has topped Lonely Planet’s top 10 cities to visit in 2019 list.

Go explore the boroughs, and you’ll stumble upon so many amazing facades, almost looking like tiny castles. And of course a few Christmas tree merchants ?? ?by @sidsel.garsdal #visitcopenhagen #copenhagen #beautifuldestinations #weekendgetaway #wanderlust #citybreak #living_europe #chasinglight #frederiksberg #winter #christmascph #christmasdecorations #christmasdecor #christmaslights #julikøbenhavn #hygge

For foodies, the street food scene is amazing, especially in the area of Refshaleøen, a former industrial area with a food and craft market, Reffen. and in 2018, Noma, the restaurant that officially put New Nordic cuisine on the worldwide stage, triumphantly returned home to Copenhagen.

And don’t even think about missing the Tivoli Gardens theme park (one of the world’s oldest), who are now offering a February winter season, says Tom Hall, Lonely Planet’s editorial director.

Fancy some winter sports in the city? There’s a new artificial ski slope and hiking area on top of a waste management centre, and when you are done with that, you can literally spend days on end exploring the amazing shops, tiny bakeries filled with baked goodies and just admire the amazing style this city has got by the bucketload.
