Valentine’s Day: 3 cities, 3 hotels – all the romance you can wish for

Trine Jensen-Burke

Love is all around.

Whether you head away for the actual Valentine’s weekend or any other weekend this spring, we have rounded up three gorgeous hotels – in three magnificent cities – that all lend themselves so utterly perfectly to a weekend away just for two.

Copenhagen, Venice and Madrid – all cities you can easily get to on flights that aren’t too long. And once you do get there, trust us, you’ll be falling head over heels – for everything.

Ready for a city break with some serious romantic swagger? Look no further:

1. Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark

From the fairytale façade to the dreamy location (right beside the Tivoli Gardens), to the Scandi-meets-the-Orient interiors, you won’t forget your stay at Copenhagen’s Nimb Hotel anytime soon.

This luxury boutique hotel ticks all the boxes for a perfect weekend of romance. Think open fireplaces, balconies overlooking the Tivoli Gardens, a sexy rooftop bar from where you can enjoy Copenhagen’s most magnificent sunset.

Oh, and the hotel is smack bang in the city centre, and minutes walk away from some amazing shopping areas (check out Strøget!), fab foodie destinations and pretty much all the touristy things you’d want to be getting up to while in the Danish capital – that is if you can tear yourself away from your hotel room, of course.

2. Palazzo Morosini degli Spezieri, Venice, Italy

Well, because it doesn’t get much more romantic than Venice now, does it?

And for the perfectly blissed-out stay, you want to check into the Palazzo Morosini degli Spezieri – an apartment hotel unlike any other you have seen before.

Set in the stunning area of the San Polo district, the hotel has a lush garden (perfect for a chilled glass of prosecco), yet near most major attractions.

As for the hotel itself, it consists of nine separate apartments, all fully equipped with everything you might need, and the decor is sleek, modern and elegant – in other words, perfectly Italian.

3. Heritage Madrid Hotel, Madrid, Spain

The lap of luxury awaits you at the fabulous five-star Heritage Madrid Hotel.

Set in the chic Salamanca neighbourhood, the hotel is quietly tucked away from the busiest tourist areas, yet in the perfect location for some shopping. Oh, and if you get hungry, you also have some of the city’s very best restaurants right on your doorstep here. End the evening with sipping some champagne (or sangria) on the hotel’s gorgeous rooftop deck.

As for sightseeing, you can walk (or take the Metro) to the Plaza Mayor, and from there explore all the must-see sights in the Spanish capital (like the Prado museum). But chances are once you see the inside of your hotel (swoon) you might just not want to leave your room.
