The say never meet your heroes, or the person your parents’ have decided to dress up like, because it can often be a bit of a disappointment.
During a carnival in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday 19-month-old Daniele De Sanctis stole the show.
In an outfit that rivalled the holy father’s, Daniele was dressed head to toe in a Papal inspired get-up of white cassock and cape, complete with skullcap and even a miniature pectoral cross.
It seemed Pope Francis appreciated the gesture and lifted the little man from the crowd, however judging by this image, Daniele was not best pleased.
“It was a gesture of love toward the Holy Father,” Daniele’s Mum told The Associated Press. “We certainly didn’t intend to make fun of him or the church in any way.”
