Winesi March was overjoyed to regain his sight at the age of 69 thanks to a simple £30 operation.
The grandfather had not been able to see properly for 12 years due to cataracts in both eyes and two years ago he lost his sight completely.
“I never imagined how Luka (his grandson) would look,I’m so happy to see him again,” he said while sitting in a Malawi hospital.
Winesi’s wife Namaleto added: ‘I never ever dreamt of this happening to our family. There wasn’t much information in our area about eye care.’
Vlogger Doug Armstrong videoed the bandage removal and it’s a very special moment when Winesi realises he can properly again.
