Just WOW!

Do you ever stumble upon something, and instantly fall madly in love?

That happened to me recently, when I had the chance to visit Markree Castle in Sligo.

Words honestly wouldn’t do the place justice, but I will give it my best shot.

Markree Castle is an extraordinary venue – an authentic and historic Irish Castle located on the route of the world-famous Wild Atlantic Way.

I may be bias, as I have a special place in my heart for Sligo, but seriously, it is something else.

The castle reopened earlier this year after extensive and sensitive renovations.

These renovations have resulted in a fairytale of elegance and service in a majestic part of Ireland.

It has been lovingly and extensively renovated to the highest standards, not diminishing any element of the original castle.

It’s so authentic, you feel like you’ve travelled back in time (but you still get the luxuries you would expect from a beautiful venue).

At every stage of the renovation process, the character and history of Markree was protected and preserved, with furniture and original features rebuilt and reclaimed.

As I strolled around the castle and the grounds, all I could think was “I will get married here some day!”

… just have to find a man first, but that’s an issue for another day.

The castle offers wonderful wedding packages, that includes everything from the exclusive use of Markree Castle and grounds for you and your guests, including our Grand Hall and reception rooms.

You will also get a personal planner to help and advise you on every aspect of your day!

Oh, and rightly, you will get a red carpet welcome upon arrival, including Champagne reception for the bridal party.

The chef will feed you and your guests all day, and trust me – the food is DELICIOUS.

But if you don’t have wedding bells in the near future, fear not.

Markree Castle is open for gorgeous weekend breaks occasionally, so keep an eye on the website for that!

You honestly won’t regret it.
