Mowgli and Baloo are headed to a big screen near you as it has been revealed that Disney is planning to do a live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book.
The script for the film, which will be based on Rudyard Kipling’s book of short stories just like the 1967 animated version, is being written by Justin Marks.

Looks like Mowgli is headed back to the big screen.
Apart from Marks nobody else has been linked with the project, which is still in the early stages, although The Hollywood Reporter claims the search for a director is underway.
This adaptation is just the latest in a growing line of reboots which includes Maleficent (based on Sleeping Beauty) and Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella which is due to start shooting later this year.

The Jungle Book is one of many Disney films to be translated into live-action.
And Disney aren’t the only ones interested in doing a live-action take on the story about a young boy who is raised by wolves. Warner Bros is also said to be eager to explore Kipling’s novel.
