You'd assume, being a blue blooded royal, that Queen Elizabeth would have the iron willpower necessary to resist short-term temptations.
We'd have believed that Her Majesty would simply command any cravings to be gone and they would vanish immediately.
Now, however, a Buckingham Palace insider has let the cat out of the bag with regards to one of the Queen's simplest foodie pleasures; and it's something you can pick up at the local café.
It seems Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is partial to a slice of good old chocolate biscuit cake.
Former royal chef Darren McGrady, author of Eating Royally cooked for Queen Elizabeth for more than 15 years. He told Recipes Plus:
"Now the Chocolate Biscuit Cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again everyday until it's all gone," McGrady said.
"She'll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake."
When Queen Elizabeth leaves the Palace and travels to Windsor Castle, a senior chef will follow on the train to ensure the remainder of the cake is available to her.
Now that's dedication.
