When getting married, there's a lot to take into account and there's no denying that it's a stressful time.

When the wedding preparations are done and dusted and you're trying to chill out in the run-up to the day itself, it's easy to let the nerves take over.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, dietitian Geraldine Georgeou says the worst thing a bride can do is skip a meal and that it's so important to choose your food wisely because no one wants a bad case of wind on their wedding day.

She explained that a common habit of people who suffer from bloating is eating on a sporadic basis.

"People who have trouble with bloating are often not eating regularly".

The nutritional expert says that beans and fizzy drinks can cause your stomach to bloat and leave you feeling "gassy".

Onions and garlic can also make your stomach swell, often leading to constipation.

Cauliflower and broccoli, cabbages and carrots are laden with the type of starches and sugars that result in a bloated tummy.

NOT ideal if you're preparing to get married.

Interestingly, and this is one we would never have thought of, chewing gum can trigger stomach discomfort for some people.

Geraldine explained:

"Chewing gum has artificial sweeteners known as polyols, and polyols are known to irritate or create irritable bowel symptoms in people".
