We’re all skincare fiends these days…

The root of all glowing and clear skin starts from within, and most skincare experts who deal with patients experiencing underlying issues will tell you that.

Topical treatments and skincare routines are a great way to enhance your skin’s appearance, but getting the right nutrients in each day will speed the process along nicely.

According to Farnaz Khan, founder of the SXCGLO skincare range, adding more foods that contain vitamin C, antioxidants, and foods that are rich in omega 3 as it will help replenish your skin.

She also recommends eating berries for their great source of collagen as well, “which helps bring the glow back to your complexion and can contribute to helping your skin stop from sagging.”

Farnaz Khan told Her.ie: “Hydration is key! Even though the weather is cooler around this time of year, it’s important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated from the inside out.

“Cutting down on your salt and sugar, avoiding smoking, and limiting your caffeine intake can also help, along with bringing back radiance to your skin.”

Now that the summer is beginning to wind to a close and temperatures will start to drop towards the end of September into October, we need to prepare our skin for the change.

Skincare expert Khan says when it comes to building an easy skincare regime, people should stick to products that aim to hydrate their skin and are rich in vitamin E, vitamin D, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin “as it helps boost the moisture levels in your skin”.

Khan also advised that people should start to see skin differences within two weeks but should wait until two months later to see the overall skincare benefits from the products.

As for her top skincare tips, here’s what you need to know:

Use a hydrating cleanser

“Use a gentle, hydrating cleanser to clean your face. Avoid any harsh cleansers that strip your skin of its natural oils, as this can lead to dryness and irritation.”

Exfoliate your skin

“Exfoliation is crucial for removing dead skin cells and allowing your skin to absorb skin products better.

However, do not over do it. Use a mild exfoliant (chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid or lactic acid are great choices).

“Only do this one to two times a week to avoid excessive dryness!”

Wear moisturiser daily

“Invest in a rich and hydrating moisturiser as it will help combat dryness caused by indoor heating or cold weather.”

Farnaz Khan’s skincare range SXCGLO can be found here, and has options to fit in with all of the above advice at a reasonable price point.
