The Miu Miu micro miniskirt that went viral last year has been chosen as Fashion Museum Bath’s ‘Dress of the Year 2022’.
The winner is chosen each year at a competition where an industry expert makes the final decision based on all trends emerging in the prior 12 months.
This year, editor-in-chief of Elle UK, Kenya Hunt, selected Miu Miu’s design as the 2022 winner and described it as a “defining look of that unique post-pandemic period”.
The piece will be added to the Fashion Museum’s collection of more than 100,000 objects.
Miu Miu’s spring/summer runway saw a new take on the micro miniskirt, and more budget-friendly brands have been creating their own versions of the summer staple for months now.
So, here are three affordable takes on the Miu Miu micro miniskirt:
H&M
H&M have been daring in their similarities with the top designer piece.
Their €34.99 option is a similar colour with the same effect of the dropdown material at the front of the skirt.
ASOS
Asos has a near replica of the Miu Miu micro miniskirt priced at just €46.99 from the brand Bailey Rose. Switch up the belt with a brown leather one and it’ll be even more on theme.
It’s a semi-structured fabric with a parallel-rib pattern and is made from 100% Cotton.
Urban Outfitters
Urban Outfitters’ dupe for the Miu Miu miniskirt is a similar option at a highstreet price (€49.99).
It’s composed of 65% polyester and 25% cotton and the brand says it “features a low-rise waist with double belt loops, a two-button fastening, side pockets, pleated through the main and cut to a mini hem. Complete with a raw-cut finish.”
