Teeth whitening is a very popular procedure as pretty much everyone wants sparkling white gnashers.
However, the below is a reminder to book with a dentist as they are the professionals who know exactly what they’re doing.
Abbie Kilbride had a very painful experience lately when she booked teeth whitening through someone recommended by her friends.
Unfortunately, this woman wasn’t a dentist, and the procedure went terribly wrong.
According to Cosmopolitan, the 18-year-old was left with “swollen lips and third-degree burns” and my God, does it look painful.
Abbie took to Facebook to share her experience, sharing images of the swelling and painful reaction she suffered.
She described how the treatment took just over 60 minutes and how the gel was topped up every 10-15 minutes leaving Abbie’s mouth numb at the end.
After visiting the chemist, her GP and a dental hospital, Abbie was told that she had third-degree burns.
Fortunately, the burns will heal themselves given time but Abbie wanted to tell her story in a bid to “stop anyone else from making the same mistake”.
