Introducing ‘Boy De Chanel’ – Chanel launches new range including foundation for men

Big news for the brand!

Denise Curtin

Chanel is set to release its first ever cosmetics range especially for men.

Boy De Chanel” will feature products including foundation, lip balm and eyebrow pencils specifically aimed towards men with a different formula to their regular products, which again, is created with male skin in mind.

Instagram account FYI Beauty dropped the news earlier today sharing a sneak peek at some of the products and also noted that they are still unaware as to where exactly this range is dropping – hinting that it could be in Asia only.

The news however, has been hit with mixed reviews with many wondering why there is a need for “gendered makeup” while others believe it is a fantastic idea as most makeup is targeted towards women and not men.

Others too highlighted an important point, that many men feel embarresed or too shy to purchase “normal” makeup which is seen as a “women’s product” and therefore the introduction of men’s cosmetics will hopefully help to normalise the idea across the board and all makeup brands. Chanel are the second major beauty brand to create a line of products for men following in the footsteps of Tom Ford.

What do you think of this new line? Do you believe male representation in the cosmetics industry is getting stronger?
