Kat Von D has stepped down from her makeup brand after 11 years

Kat Von D has announced she is stepping down as the owner of her makeup brand.

The tattooist said that while leaving the brand “was not an easy decision,” it was one that was made with “careful consideration.”

In the statement, she said that being a new mum, as well as launching a vegan shoe company and recording a new album, had left her unable to dedicate the time she wanted to her brand.

“As much as I wish I could balance all of this, on top of continuing my makeup line, it has become clear to me that I just can’t do everything at the maximum capacity,” she continued. “It’s hard to admit this, since I’ve always said ‘You can do everything and anything.’ But I don’t think admitting one’s limits is a bad thing.”

She explained that she had decided to sell her shares in the company to Kendo, who had been her partners for more than a decade.

“This was not an easy decision, but after careful consideration, I decided I wanted the makeup line to continue to thrive and grow, and I believe Kendo is primed to do just that,” she continued.

The company will also been rebranded, with the name changing from KatVonD Beauty to KvD Vegan Beauty.

Refinery29 report that Kendo issued a press release, confirming that Von D will not be involved with the makeup company “in any way.”
