Eyebrows are a pretty big deal. This we know. Look at anybody's pics from approx seven years ago and you're sure to see nothing but a few thin strands of hair above their eyes, hardly visible to the naked eye. Now, however, times have changed. Collectively, we all realised how important having decent brows is, and how a little bit of shaping and filling in can actually totally change how a face looks. Thank god too. And as it turns out, there is one particular kind of brow style that keeps us looking younger. According to a study published by Frontiers, the more defined and dark a set of eyebrows are, the younger the woman is thought to be. Sounds good to us. A group of people were shown over 800 photos of women aged between 20 and 80. The research showed that the younger women tended to have more contrast in their facial features - particularly in the lips and eyebrows. The study then created two sets of photos for people to examine. The first included women with high contrast faces and the second included women with low contrast faces. Over 80 percent of the time, participants said that the high contrast face looked younger than the low contrast face. Even though the study only included photos of makeup-free women, researchers have said that the results can apply to women wearing makeup too. Richard Russell told Time magazine:

"We know that lips get less red with age and eyebrows get lighter, for instance, and those are both things you could address with make-up if you wanted. "The way we manipulated features in the photos was very similar to what you'd do with make-up. "And I would be surprised if you couldn't get similar effects."
