The dry shampoo tip that goes against everything we know

but makes a lot of sense too.

Cathy Donohue

This could make all the difference.

The standard way to apply dry shampoo is to spray some on when your hair looks a little greasy or when you want to add some texture.

If your hair is fine and limp, you’re probably no stranger to using dry shampoo but it turns out there’s another more effective way of applying it.

Apparently, spraying on some the night before is the way to go as this gives it more time to work, soaking up the excess oil from your hair.

If your hair feels hard and sticky after using dry shampoo, applying it at night is better as it can absorb into your hair while you sleep.

This means the nasty residue that often results from the use of dry shampoo will have disappeared by the morning…YAY!

Speaking to InStyle, New-York based hairstylist Ryan Trygstad explains his reasoning for using dry shampoo as a preventive measure, i.e., using it at night instead of morning.

“Use a dry shampoo preventively. Spray roots until hair feels chalky. The powder will suck up oils as they’re produced.

“Come morning, you won’t have to degrease or worry about seeing powdery residues. Then you can style and go!”

As tempting as it might be to use dry shampoo this on a regular basis, DON’T go overboard.

It really isn’t wise for your hair’s overall health and using it sparingly will help you get the most from it.
