The two kitchen essentials that will help beat cellulite in seconds

Trine Jensen-Burke

OK, so not to freak you out, guys, but summer is now a mere three months away.

That’s right. Three more months until we have to rock skimpy swimsuits again, and we don’t know about you, but we feel like taking some deep breath (and joining the gym!) right about now.

However, not until we have tried this nifty little body hack from skin therapist, Nataliya Robinson, who shared her cellulite-beating combination with MailOnline recently.

Because according to Robinson, you can DIY a really effective cellulite mask at home by mixing together bicarbonate of soda and Manuka honey. It sounds almost too good to be true, we know, but the skin expert swears this combination will help minimise the lumps and bumps also known as cellulite.

Fancy giving it a go? Here is what you need to do:

1. Take one teaspoon of honey and mix it with one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda inside a container.

2. Then, dilute it with some water and voila — you have your very own cellulite-buster.

3. Massage your problem areas with the mix for two or three minutes each until they become smooth.

4. Then, you’ll need to apply pure honey to the areas and “slap” them for about four to seven minutes.

As for how you can combat cellulite with honey and bicarbonate of soda, Robinson explains that honey is a natural ingredient that will decongest the skin and reduce the appearance of the cellulite, all without overloading the body with toxins and chemicals that are found in ordinary skincare.

As well as this, massaging your skin will improve the blood circulation and promote lymphatic flow, and the bicarbonate of soda will naturally exfoliate the skin.

Look, we are aware that according to most dermatologists, cellulite is pretty much impossible to get rid of by any product applied externally, as the problem sits so far down in the dermis (skin) that anything applied topically can’t really make much of a difference.

But, improving the overall appearance of your skin, making sure it is moisturised and nourished, can improve the texture of your skin, thus making cellulite appear less visible, so we reckon this is definitively worth a shot, no?
