Forget Tara Banks’ ‘smize’. The latest celebrity pose to steal the limelight is squinching.
The beauty pose – that celebs and models alike are stealing for themselves – involves tightening your lower eyelid and letting the top one drop down just a little.
It might sound like the recipe for a posing disaster, but photographer Peter Hurley says the trend has A-listers adopting the pose in a bid to appear more confident and dominate their photo opportunities.
Worried about the effects of wrinkles and crow feet?
Dermatologist Rachel Nazarian explained to Marie Claire, that ‘squinching’ will have little effect on your eye muscle area:
“Since it’s an alternative to classic ‘squinting’, squinching seems to create less overall muscle contraction, and actually might spare you the etched in-lines that come from repetitive muscle movements like squinting.
“The trend calls for partial muscle relaxation. So, if anything, you’ll only form half the lines you would normally.”
So ladies, pull those peepers tight and don’t forget to smile… because all eyes are on you.
