Does it really work?

TikTok is well known for its viral dance challenges but one other thing it has become popular for is hack videos. Whether it's a cooking hack or something like the towel folding hack, there's literally a hack for everything on TikTok, so it's not surprising that there's lots of beauty hacks too. One that has become really popular at the moment is the mascara hack by @slaybytay, so I decided to give it a go and see if it really works. As you can see from my before photo, my eyelashes are short and fair so this hack is right up my alley. The TikTok mascara hack shows the way we should be really using our mascara to get our eyelashes as long and thick as possible. So how does it work? Slaybytay says that if you want to get the most out of your mascara you have to hold the wand vertically, not horizontally, while applying your mascara. Swiping your mascara wand vertically across your lashes will help to ensure that you coat every single lash from left to right. After you have done that you are then going to want to go over your lashes holding the wand horizontal like you normally would. Don't forget those bottom lashes! And this is the result. I left one eye mascara free so you can see the difference between them. I'm pretty impressed with the final result and that was even with me not being very happy with the mascara I decided to use (I think it had dried out because I left it on the bathroom windowsill). It definitely made a difference with my eyelashes and I'll be trying it again in future with a non-dried out mascara.
