Urban Decay is being praised for showing ‘real skin’ on its Instagram page

Olivia Hayes

We’re so used to seeing it now.

Day after day, hour after hour we scroll through Instagram. And if you’re a beauty buff then you no doubt see an abundance of makeup and cosmetic images.

However, more often than not they are airbrushed, with skin looking as plump and pore-free as a baby’s bottom.

As we all know, that is not real life because no matter how good our makeup is, we all have pores, blemishes, spots, freckles and scars.

Urban Decay is now trying to change the way we see skin on Instagram – by sharing images of actual real skin and not its airbrushed counterpart.

Fans of Urban Decay on Instagram have noticed the changes, with many taking to the uploads to praise the brand.

One user said: “I enjoy that the recent photos actually show unedited or lightly edited skin.”

While another wrote: “Finally the beautiful reality is revealed. No more plastic photoshop surgery. Way to go!”

And one more rejoiced, saying: “It’s refreshing! And a good reminder of what skin should look like. It looks healthy and REAL!”
