6 new books that we can’t wait to check out this March

Keeley Ryan

It’s only just turned March, but 2019 has already been an incredible year for books.

It feels like our must-read pile just keeps growing and growing, as more mysteries, love stories and tales of dystopian futures hit the shelves.

And this month is no exception, with some truly incredible titles being released this month.

Here are 6 new books we can’t wait to check out this month.

Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Daisy Jones and the Six were everywhere. At least, for a little while. They sold out arenas from coast to coast, and had the sound that defined an era.

And then on July 12, 1979, they split – and nobody ever knew why. Until now, that is.

Now Daisy is finally ready to tell her version of events, and it change just about everything.

Ann Devine, Ready For Her Close Up by Colm O’Regan

Ann Devine, the classic mammy, is left looking for a brand new challenge after her youngest child has flown the nest. That is, until she gets put forward for the Kilsudgeon Tidy Towns Committee.

But the harmony in the town is threatened once the crew of a new Game of Thrones-sequel kind of show arrives in town, and the newcomers seem to be doing more damage than good.

The last straw is when Ann’s pride and joy – a floral arrangement in a boat – is trashed. She’s about to discover what it means to go viral…

The Runaways by Fatima Bhutto

Anita’s life changes forever when she meets her elderly neighbour, a man whose shelves of books promise an escape to a different world. And Monty’s life starts going in an entirely different direction when a beautiful and rebellious girl joins his school.

Sunny, whose father left India to go to England to try and give his son the opportunities he never had, doesn’t quite fit in anywhere. Only when his charismatic cousin comes back into his life does he realise his life could hold more possibilities than he ever imagined.

These three lives will cross in the desert, a place where life and death walk hand-in-hand, and where their closely guarded secrets will force them to make a terrible choice.

Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson

Hen and Lloyd are relieved when they meet the only other seemingly-childless couple in the neighbourhood, Matthew and Mira, soon after moving into their new neighbourhood.

When they’re invited over for dinner, however, things take a sinister turn when Hen thinks she sees something suspicious in Matthew’s study.

Could the charming neighbours be hiding a deep dark secret? One that only Hen, whose been battling her own problems with depression and medication, could know about?

Don’t You Forget About Me by  Mhairi McFarlane

It all started with four simple words: I love your laugh x

But that was a long time ago. 12 years ago, to be exact. It actually began when Georgina lost her job, and found her boyfriend in bed with someone else.

When she finds out her new boss, Lucas McCarthy, is the boy who wrote those sweet words to her a long time ago, it starts to feel like the start of something new. There’s just one issue: he doesn’t remember her at all.

House On Fire by Bonnie Kistler

In their five year marriage, Leigh Huyett and Pete Conley have managed to create the perfectly blended family of her children and his. But their future is thrown into question when an unimaginable tragedy strikes.

Pete’s son, high school senior Kip, crashes his car with Leigh’s 14-year-old daughter in the passenger seat. He’s charged with manslaughter, but soon ends up changing his story about what happened that night.

As the mystery of what happened that night begins to intensify, Leigh and Pete find themselves torn between loyalty to their children and to each other.

A good book can do just about anything; from taking you on a wild and fantastical adventure to making you feel like an all-knowing super sleuth (if you figure out the killer twist).

Every week at #Bookmarked, we will be taking you through some of our all-time favourite books – as well as the newest novels hitting shelves in Ireland.
