Stephanie Meyer to publish new Twilight book, Midnight Sun
Great, just what we need, etc.
Author Stephanie Meyer has announced her plans to publish a new Twilight book, Midnight Sun.
Meyer, who sold over 100 million copies of the original Twilight series, said that she was initially planning to push back the announcement, but decided that people probably needed "a little pleasure" during these incredibly trying times.
“I thought seriously about delaying this announcement until things were back to normal,” she said in a statement.
“However, that felt wrong, considering how long those who are eager for this book have already waited.”
“I know how much I personally need distractions right now, how much I need something to look forward to, and most of all, how much I need more books to read. So, I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, after it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while.”
For those among us not well versed in the wild and really quite bizarre Twilight narratives, the novels (and subsequent films) follow the love story between vampire Edward and human Bella.
Falling in love while attending the same high school, the pair enter a really quite intense relationship that is tested many, many times by werwolves, Bella's dad, and the fact that Edward might one day accidentally kill Bella with his vampiric strength.
This new book will no doubt be more of the same - except from Edward's perspective this time, giving avid readers a deeper insight into the troubled mind of the centuries old teenager.
“Meeting beautiful, mysterious Bella is both the most intriguing and unnerving event he has experienced in his long life as a vampire,” reads the book's listing.
“As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle on his life. How can he let himself fall in love with Bella when he knows that he is endangering her life?”
We all know the answer to that, surely.
Midnight Sun is due for release on August 4, 2020.
