Facebook’s Artificial Intelligence Research department chief Yann LeCun says he is planning on developing an “artificial assistant” who will recognise when you are about to post a selfie of your night out that you may not want your mammy to see.
The move comes in the same week Zuckerberg hinted that they plan on including a ‘dislike’ option to people’s posts.
Speaking to Wired, LeCun said the digital assistant would step in just before you publicly post that image/ comment or selfie, asking if it’s something you’d want your boss/ mother/ family to see.
Facebook also plan to notify you when someone you don’t know publishes a picture of you without your explicit approval.
Speaking about the developments, LeCun said:
“You will have a single point of contact to mediate your interaction but also to protect your private information.”
So when the latest development kicks in, we’ll be able to tick one more thing off the list of “no, you definitely didn’t do that last night”.
