This gay-friendly Coke advert is attracting attention for all the RIGHT reasons

Gillian Fitzpatrick

Coca-Cola is known for those Diet Coke ads of yesteryear… but a new version has gotten everyone talking for ALL the right reasons.

The ad, which debuted recently, is being toted as ‘gay-friendly’ – and certainly the message behind it is really strong.

Entitled Pool Boy, it is part of the brand’s #TasteTheFeeling campaign and is set to Come Prima, the Italian-language song famously performed by Tony Dallara.

In the commercial, a young woman is seen shamelessly eyeing-up the family’s pool boy (who in fairness is a bit of alright) from the kitchen while he works outside in the sunshine.

Meanwhile, the woman’s brother is staring equally lovingly from an upstairs window.

Cue a sibling race to the fridge to grab a beverage to cool down that overworked and sweaty pool boy. The duo scrap it out and arrive outside in tandem… only to discover their mam has beaten them both to it.

PinkNews in the UK, which covers LGBTQ stories of interest, is calling the advert “totally brilliant,” while Out.com writes: “Nothing is quite as refreshing as an ice-cold Coca-Cola on a sweltering summer day.

“Perhaps the progressive representation in an advertisement for Coca-Cola is a close second.”
