More than just basketball – the Facebook Messenger games you need in your life

Ellen Tannam

Facebook Messenger updates are always fun.

We know about the secret inbox that came to light recently and the addictive Facebook basketball game, but it turns out there are a few others flying under the radar.

The internet is a paradise for cute animal lovers, and this Facebook command will brighten up anybody’s day.

Simply type in “@dailycute” into the text bar and click send. The person/people in your Messenger conversation will then be bestowed with the gift of a random photograph of an adorable animal from the image sharing website Imgur (along with a blurb with a bit of information about the animal.)

I know seeing pictures of cute creatures boosts my endorphins, and there is no limit to the amount of ‘@dailycute” commands you can use in a day.

The second game you might not know about is Facebook Chess. It’s slightly more cerebral than basketball or a heartwarming picture of a pug, but it’s a good way to foster some healthy competition between yourself and your friends.

All you do to start the game is type in ‘@fbchess play’ and a board will appear in the message box. To make your moves, there are a few keys to remember:
K stands for King, Q for queen, B for Bishop, N for knight R for rook, and P for pawn.

So, to move your knight to square D4, you type ‘@fbchess ND4’. Simples.

Great news for those people whose days vastly improve with the appearance of puppies or some intense, competitive strategy gaming.
