Sofia Vergara is reportedly being sued by her ex-boyfriend Nick Loeb over embryos frozen while they were still in a relationship.
The Modern Family star is said to have undergone IVF treatment in 2013 and embroyos created with her eggs and Loeb’s sperm were frozen and stored at Californian facility.
The couple split six months later and Vergara, who is engaged in Joe Manganiello, now wishes that the embryos be destroyed.
However, according to In Touch, Loeb has taken legal action to ensure that the embryos remain frozen, with a source telling the publication he is “pro life” and believes that that life begins at conception.
“Nick has always wanted to be a father and will do whatever it takes to save these two remaining female embryos,” they said.
Court documents are also said to allege that Vergara was abusive to Loeb during their relationship and forced him to sign a contract saying that the embryos would be thawed and discarded in the event of the death of either party.
“Jane [Sofia] insisted that John [Nick] agree to the destruction of the female embryos under that circumstance, and began vigorously berating him in the offices. John Doe signed this portion of the Former Directive, even though he did not agree with it, in order to avoid further abuse.”
