Ellen Fitzpatrick

Billy Connolly is making his comeback.

Comedian Billy Connolly may be retired now, but it’s not stopping him from filming another TV series.

With a long standing career in comedy, Connolly’s latest series on Gold will take a look back over the last five decades.

The new series Billy Connolly Does… will show the Scotsman look back on his life, and how much has changed since he began his career in the 60s.

With five episodes, each will dive in to a different topic, covering work, love and marriage, sex, travel, and childhood and parenthood.

Billy now resides in Florida with his wife Pamela Stephenson, where the show will be filmed.

Billy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease back in 2013 and retired from all live performances five years later.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to sharing a few of my favourite moments from over the years … it’s been brilliant, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride!”

And it’s not just Billy who is exciting about the new series, Iain Coyle, head of comedy entertainment for UKTV says the show is a dream come true for him.

Coyle said: “So, this is a career highlight, working with one of, if not THE, greatest comedians of all time.

“I feel incredibly privileged that Billy and his family have given us access, not only to his incredible archive, but also to their everyday lives.”

The show has no launch date yet but will be publishing an autobiography called Windswept And Interesting later this year.
