Séan Fitzgerald, a 25-year-old primary school teacher from Barna, stepped away from Galway's football panel last week, sparking rumours he would appear on the popular reality show.
Love Island have been dropping this year's cast on social media this morning, cementing footballer Séan Fitzgerald's stint on the show.
Back in February, the footballer, who is known as Fitzy online, posted an audition for the show to his nearly 97,000 TikTok followers with the caption 'Get me in there'.
Speaking about his role on the show, the GAA star said: "I’m here for love but also here for drama. I won’t be getting involved in it, I might be mixing it!"
More than one competition is stealing the spotlight this summer as Love Island - the global television phenomenon - returns on Monday, 1st June for its 13th series on Virgin Media Play & Virgin Media Two. Maya Jama returns as host, presiding over all the action inside the Villa.
