ICYMI: Twitter wasn’t prepared for Stanley Tucci’s cocktail class and may never recover

There’s no denying that the internet has produced countless memorable moments over the course of this lockdown – moments few of us will forget in a hurry…. no matter how hard we might try.

From Gal Gadot’s ill-advised rendition of Imagine to Vanessa Hudgens’ shortsighted assessment of a global pandemic, social media has been a stranger place than usual in recent times.

But every so often, the universe throws us a bone.

While most of us are braced for the unexpected at all times these days, who among us could have realised how desperately we needed to see footage of Stanley Tucci preparing a cocktail from the comfort of his own home?

No one, that’s who.

Oh, but if you’re one of the few people who hasn’t yet seen it, let’s catch you up.

This week, 59-year-old Stanley, who is perhaps best known in recent years for his roles in The Lovely Bones, The Devil Wears Prada and The Hunger Games, decided to teach his fans and followers on Instagram how to make the perfect Negroni.

Oh sure, there was a particularly slick instruction style and some fairly enticing shaker action, but let’s be honest, in simpler times, Stanley’s post would have very likely fallen beneath the radar.

In lockdown however, Stanely’s ode to the Negroni generated mass hysteria, countless headlines and an online narrative which suggests much of the public had no idea how strongly they felt about the New York-born actor.

In the hours that followed Stanley’s cocktail class, Twitter was awash with posts from people declaring their love (and lust) for the man who willingly choose to wear a belt during lockdown.
