Ireland AM’s Elaine Crowley says she finds dating hard as she splits from partner

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Poor Elaine.

Elaine Crowley has revealed that getting back into the dating scene has been harder than she thought since her split from boyfriend Keith Conlon last year.

The TV presenter has said that Covid restrictions have made it difficult for her to find love again.

While Elaine admits she would like to find someone, after a difficult 12 months, romance isn’t her top priority.

Elaine told RSVP Live: “I’ve been single since just after Easter last year. I was trying to date a bit before Christmas, but it’s bloody hard with lockdown.

“You can’t go to the pub, or out for dinner, to meet somebody so I’m kind of faffing around and hoping for the best!

“Dating] wouldn’t be a massive priority for me at the moment to be honest with the year I’ve had. My sex life is the least of my worries.”

Revealing that she wants to meet someone in a more conventional way, dating apps are a big no when she thinks back to the horror stories she heard on Elaine.

Elaine was axed by Virgin Media last year, with the presenter now taking over hosting duties on the weekend edition of Ireland AM alongside Simon Delaney.

Presenting the show on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays since September, it was then that Virgin Media dropped her daily afternoon panel show.

While she was sad to have the show scrapped, Elaine admitted that the timing was right and she just didn’t have the same passion for presenting it as she did at the start.

Explaining that her heart just wasn’t in it anymore, she was “kind of burnt out from it” and knew it was time to do something different.

The show ultimately ended as Covid restrictions came into play and the show needed to adapt around them, which Elaine says she felt didn’t give it the same experience for viewers.
